Stacy Caddell is a native of Norfolk, Virginia where she began her dance training at the age of 5. Stacy eventually went to the School of American Ballet on scholarship and was then invited to join the New York City Ballet by George Balanchine. She was promoted to soloist and had the great honor to dance many principle roles there. She later left NYCB and joined Twyla Tharp and Dancers where she performed all over the world including a tour with Mikhail Baryshnikov in the show "Cutting Up". When she stopped performing she assisted Ms. Tharp at American Ballet Theater on "Know By Heart" and also at NYCB on "Beethoven's Seventh". Ms. Caddell was later asked by Ms. Tharp to become the Dance Supervisor on the Broadway show "Movin' Out" and she also helped stage it's first National Tour. She also staged Ms. Tharp's Broadway show "Come Fly Away" for the Royal Danish Ballet which was the first time a ballet company ever did a Broadway show. She became a repetiteur for Ms. Tharp's ballets and has staged them all over the world. Such companies include ABT, NYCB, Royal Danish Ballet, Maggio Danza, Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, Zurich Ballet, Ballet de Geneva, Berlin Staatsoper, Vienna Staatsoper, Ballet de Lorraine, Introdans, Sommerballet, Houston Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, Washington Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Indiana University, Purchase and Hunter College. Ms. Caddell is also a repetiteur for the Balanchine Trust. The ballets she has staged by George Balanchine are "Serenade", "Symphony in C", "The Nutcracker", "Theme and Variations", "Walpurgisnacht", "Tin Soldier" and "Valse Fantasie". Stacy has also choreographed the opera "Aida", the short film "Central Park", two episodes on the HBO series "The Sopranos", four ballets for Ballet Academy East, a ballet titled "Twin Souls" with all new music written and played by Luca Mais for the Joffrey Concert Group. This past year she choreographed a ballet for the Joffrey Ballet School to the music of Philip Glass called "Luminiferous". Ms. Caddell is currently Guest Faculty at Ballet Academy East and is now teaching for The Joffrey Ensemble and the Joffrey Ballet School.
